Your data stays with you.
ShowUp is built on a simple principle — your reflections, check-ins, and personal patterns belong to you and you alone. We do not collect, track, or share your personal information.
The short version
- Everything you enter is stored locally on your device only.
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- Payments are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details.
- You can export or delete your data at any time, entirely from within the app.
Who we are
ShowUp is a daily self-alignment tracking app. It helps you check in with your personal life pillars, track your consistency over time, and reflect on your patterns through weekly and monthly insights.
This privacy policy explains how ShowUp handles your information. It applies to the ShowUp app available on Google Play.
Information we do not collect
ShowUp has no user accounts, no login, no backend server, and no cloud database. As a result, we do not collect any of the following:
- Name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiers
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioural tracking
- Crash reports sent to external servers
- Any data from your contacts, camera, microphone, or other sensors
There is no data transmitted from your device to any server operated by us.
Data stored on your device
ShowUp stores the following information locally on your device using an encrypted local database (Hive). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it yourself.
- Your life pillars and their names
- Your daily check-in scores (1–5 per pillar)
- Your written daily reflections
- Your check-in dates and streak history
- Achievements you have earned
- App preferences and subscription status
Subscriptions and payments
ShowUp offers optional premium subscriptions (monthly, quarterly, and yearly) as well as one-time archive purchases. All payments are processed exclusively through Google Play Billing.
We never receive, store, or have access to your payment card details, billing address, or any financial information. All of that is handled entirely by Google under their own privacy policy.
Your subscription status (active, trial, expired) is stored locally on your device to determine which features are accessible. This information is not transmitted anywhere.
Data export and deletion
You are in full control of your data at all times.
- Export: You can export all your data as a file to your device's Downloads folder at any time from the home screen. The file is signed to protect its integrity.
- Import: You can restore a previous export on any device, including when switching phones.
- Deletion: To delete all your data, simply uninstall the app. Alternatively, you can clear app data from your device's system settings (Settings → Apps → ShowUp → Clear Data).
We have no copies of your data and cannot recover it on your behalf if your device is lost or damaged without a prior export.
Notifications
ShowUp can send you local notifications as reminders — for example, a daily check-in reminder at 10 PM if you have not checked in yet, or a notification when your weekly interpretation or monthly reflection becomes available.
These notifications are generated entirely on your device. No information about your notification status, what you tapped, or when you engaged with a notification is collected or transmitted anywhere.
You can enable or disable notifications for ShowUp at any time from your device's notification settings.
Third-party services
ShowUp uses the following third-party services:
- Google Play Billing — for processing subscription and in-app purchases. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Services — required for Android app distribution. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, Crashlytics, Sentry, Mixpanel, or any other data collection or analytics service.
Future cloud sync (planned)
A future version of ShowUp will offer an optional cloud sync feature powered by Firebase, which will allow you to access your data across multiple devices.
This feature will be fully optional. If you choose to use it, you will create an account and your data will be synced to secure cloud servers. This privacy policy will be updated at that time to reflect what data is collected, how it is stored, and how it is protected.
Until that feature ships, no data leaves your device.
Children's privacy
ShowUp is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect any information from children or minors. The app is rated 18+ on Google Play and minor users are restricted from accessing or downloading it.
If you believe a minor has used this app, please contact us and we will assist with removing any locally stored data from the device.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, particularly when new features are added (such as cloud sync). When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Significant changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use of ShowUp after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
